A basic guide to essential oils

Updated: Apr 29, 2024

dōTERRA essential oils are a source of natural health and well-being as well as a great resource for regulating emotions, improving digestion, caring for your skin, and complementing your meditation and yoga practice.

They allow you to quickly connect with what you need in the moment, activating the hypothalamus, the immune, digestive and nervous systems. You can use them with a diffuser, dilute them or even ingest them.

You can find more information about its uses and benefits in the following link.

Here are some of my favorites and how I use them:

Pure Oils:

  • Lavender: on your wrists before going to sleep. It helps you relax and quiet your mind.

  • Lemon: Just a few drops in your water bottle or your diffuser to increase motivation.

  • Cinnamon: great for bad odors.

  • Geranium: ideal if you want to have radiant skin.

  • Frankincense: a great complement to your yoga practice.

  • Copaiba: just one drop under your tongue to deepen your meditation practice.

  • Rosemary: on your temples to improve focus and concentration.

  • Oregano: diluted with another neutral oil to combat bacterial infections.

  • Eucalyptus: inhale if you have trouble breathing.

Combinations:

  • Mint+Lavender+Rosemary: on your temples to alleviate migraines.

  • Lemon and orange or tangerine: place them in your diffuser to connect with happy emotions.

  • Geranium and Frankincense: mixed with neutral oil for radiant and healthy skin.

  • Sandalwood + Chamomile + Jasmine: on the wrists or the soles of your feet to sleep peacefully.
